Changing Ways
It's so easy to get swept up into the hustle - the money making machine - of society. We often confuse the pursuit of happiness with the pursuit of wealth. And don't get me wrong, I know a lot of problems and stresses can be solved with having more cash to spend, I get that. That's not the root of the problem. The root is that everything is run by money, by greed, by the drive to always get more, more, more. It hurts me to my soul to know how much suffering and neglect exists in the world, especially considering small acts of generousity can make a huge difference in someone's life. Yes, obviously, a financial assistance could help someone out, but that's not what I'm referring to. I'm referring to the most needed, simple, basic humanities... such as asking someone how they're doing and actually wanting to hear the truthful answer, opening a door for someone, being a shoulder to cry on, or giving an honest compliment. The value of happiness and of time really becomes evident when you take focus off of money and put it into quality of life. The value of name brands, flashy cars, and lavish lifestyles diminishes when our driving force is care and concern and the betterment of others rather than ego and pride and self-preservation. Money becomes an aide to better living rather than the only thing that matters to living. With the right mind set we can change the way the world runs, we can make the future proud of its past, make time a pleasure to experience, and make our lives into more honest existences. Each of us. We are the ones with the power: there are more of us, and we can set the example. I cannot say it enough- care! Just care! Care about your own health and heart and care about the people around you's wellbeing. Do that, and history will be made.
